The sultan who hid an army in Agadez
In 1916, the sultan of Agadez, installed by France, had a house built for « illustrious guests, great marabouts ». One December night he lodged two hundred rifles from the north in it. Eighty days of siege and forty months of war later, the Aïr had lost half its people, and the war bore another man's name.
