The OAU diplomat starved by his own country
In December 1958 a thirty-three-year-old Guinean lawyer brought his country into the United Nations despite France. Six years later Africa elected him to lead the Organisation of African Unity, against his own president's wishes. In July 1976 he dined at the presidential palace in Conakry, and that same night he was in Camp Boiro. His fellow prisoners told the rest: the confessions forced out of him, the letters to the president, and a letter painted one February day on the door of his cell.
